Questions about this tool
Is grayscale the same as pure black and white?
No. Grayscale keeps many light-to-dark gray tones. A bilevel black-and-white image contains only two values and is a different transformation.
Does grayscale preserve transparency?
PNG and WebP output preserve each source pixel's alpha value. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are placed on white.
Is my image uploaded for grayscale conversion?
No. Pixel conversion, preview, and export happen in the current browser tab. The source and grayscale image are not sent to Peelaway.
