Questions about this tool

How are the palette colors selected?

The browser samples opaque pixels, groups similar RGB values, ranks frequent groups, and favors visual separation among the six representative colors.

Is this the only possible palette for an image?

No. A palette is a compact approximation of an image containing many colors. The result favors common and visually distinct groups rather than claiming one canonical palette.

Is my image or extracted palette uploaded?

No. Sampling, grouping, display, and copying stay in your browser. Image-derived color values are not included in Peelaway analytics.
