Local browser processing

Check an image's size and dimensions

See exact width and height in pixels, simplified aspect ratio, orientation, megapixels, format, and byte size. The file is decoded only in this browser tab.

How it works

01

Choose an image

Open a JPG, PNG, or WebP file up to 25MB from your device.

02

Read exact details

The browser decodes the image locally and reports its pixel dimensions, ratio, orientation, megapixels, format, and byte size.

03

Copy the summary

Copy the measured details for a form, design handoff, support ticket, or upload requirement.

What stays private here

  • The source image is decoded only in this browser tab.
  • No new file is created and no image pixel is sent to Peelaway.
  • Analytics receive only aggregate format, byte-count, and dimension fields.
  • Copied image details go only to your device clipboard.

Questions about this tool

What image details does the checker show?

It shows decoded width and height in pixels, a simplified aspect ratio, portrait/landscape/square orientation, megapixels, exact bytes, readable file size, MIME type, and format.

Are image dimensions the same as file size?

No. Dimensions describe the pixel grid, while file size describes stored bytes. Two images with the same dimensions can have very different file sizes because their formats, contents, and compression differ.

Is the image uploaded for inspection?

No. The browser reads and previews the selected file locally. Peelaway analytics receive only aggregate format, byte-count, and dimension fields—not filenames, pixels, or copied text.

Need to change what is in the image?

Test Peelaway's production workflow for supported object removal, background removal, and prompt-driven image changes.
