Undo decades of damage
From a single family photo to a full archive digitization: every kind of physical damage, handled.
Scratch & crease repair
Decades of handling leave marks. Peelaway traces each scratch and crease and rebuilds the image underneath: faces, clothing, and backgrounds restored naturally.
Tear & physical damage restoration
Torn edges, missing corners, and fold damage filled from the surrounding image, not generic texture.
Water & stain damage repair
Water rings, mold stains, coffee marks, and chemical damage: Peelaway works out what the undamaged image should be and recovers it.
Dust & foxing removal
Scanning catches every dust particle and age spot; Peelaway clears them across the whole frame while keeping the original grain and tone.
Faded area recovery
Sun-bleached sections, chemical fading, and uneven aging: tone and detail restored, guided by the intact areas around them.
Batch digitization support
Archives running hundreds of scans can automate restoration through the API (submit, poll, download) at the same quality, any scale.
Restoration that respects the original
Most 'restoration' tools run the whole image through a model that quietly reworks faces, adds modern-looking detail, and strips the authentic character of the original.
Peelaway touches only the damaged areas. It tells a scratch from a facial feature, water damage from natural grain, and repairs the first while leaving the second alone. The result is still authentically that photo, just without the damage.
Peelaway treats a damaged photo as a degraded original and undoes the degradation. It recovers what was there rather than inventing new content.
Faces, handwriting, and fine detail stay intact; only the actual damage is touched.
Process high-resolution scans (600+ DPI) at native resolution. No downscaling, no quality compromise.
Original file metadata carries through to the output, so your archive catalog stays organized.
